CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Interstate 77 northbound at Westinghouse Blvd. near Arrowood Road shut down due to a large tractor trailer fire on Saturday, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Drivers are asked to find an alternate route because there are significant traffic delays in the area.

The truck burst into flames around 10 a.m. There is no word yet on what started the fire.

A cloud of black smoke was visible in the area.

"If you are traveling nearby, use extreme caution around emergency vehicles. Your safety and the safety of our first responders is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation," the fire department said.
