Stormy weather: Funnel cloud, tornado in Miami

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Witnesses reported a funnel cloud in Miami-Dade County and hail in Broward County, as storms moved across South Florida on Thursday.

A witness shared a video of a funnel cloud near South Miami Heights Elementary School at 12231 SW 190 Terrace.

According to the National Weather Service, a thunderstorm produced a short-lived EF-0 tornado Thursday afternoon in the area of Southwest 192nd Street in the Redlands, which traveled south along Southwest 147th Avenue until almost Southwest 200th Street.

Several trees were snapped and/or uprooted, and a semi tractor-trailer was knocked on its side by the tornado near Southwest 196th Street.

The driver was injured, but their condition has not been released.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for an area in southwestern Miami-Dade. There were also warnings issued for Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Davie.

There is a chance of more showers and thunderstorms on Friday. By Saturday, drier air will rush in. This will drop the rain chances significantly.
