YACHATS – Oregon State Police cited the driver of a delivery truck early Friday after it left U.S. Highway 101 in downtown Yachats, traveled down a five-foot embankment and plowed into the corner of the Ona restaurant building housing the Dream Machine coffee shop.

The truck knocked down several signs, damaged the corner of the building and the coffee shop’s patio, but did not injure anyone because the shop had not yet opened. Co-owner Tara Stichter was inside preparing to open, but ended up closing the shop for the day because of the damage.

Oregon State Police cited Ruben E. Santos Sainz, 36, the driver of the truck, which was towed away. Sainz was not injured.

Stichter and her husband, Matthew Croka, opened the shop in a leased portion of the Ona restaurant last December.
