Conservation district to hold free car, light

Jun 20, 2023

Free passenger car and light-truck tire collections have been set at Compost Park, St. Charles Street in Schuylkill Haven, at the end of the road next to the wastewater plant, according to a release from the Schuylkill Conservation District.

Drop-off times and dates are from 4 to 6 p.m. June 12, 13 and 14. To schedule a drop-off by the June 7 deadline, email [email protected].

Leave a message with name, phone number, number of tires and date/time desired for drop-off. The conservation district will make contact to confirm your drop-off.

"Tires will not be accepted if you do not schedule a drop-off," according to the release, which also listed the following guidelines:

• Tires with rims will not be accepted.

• All tires must be free of dirt, water and foreign objects and "must have the normal geometry of a typical tire."

• The limit is one drop-off per person, with a 30-tire maximum.

• Semitruck tires will only be accepted under special circumstances.

• Tires cannot be taller than 4 feet or wider than 14 inches.

• The conservation district, its partners and volunteers reserve the right to reject tires that don't meet guidelines.
