The driver of a sport utility vehicle was killed and another driver injured in a traffic crash involving a concrete truck Tuesday in Marion County.

It happened just after 1 p.m. on Highway 253 near Interstate 22, about three miles north of Winfield, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Christopher R. Camp, 43, of Brilliant was driving a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport when he hit a 2021 Kenworth T440 concrete mixer head-on. The Land Rover then overturned.

He was taken to Northwest Regional Health in Winfield with critical injuries, but died at the hospital. Troopers said he was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the concrete mixer, who is from Hackleburg, was taken to the same hospital with injuries.

Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
